Ballroom Dance Shoes

Ballroom dance shoes are generally not used as an attention grabber, but rather a necessary item that matches with their other attire. Female dancers usually wear long gowns that hide their footwear most of the time; however, when short dresses are worn, the footwear would generally be somewhat neutral to the rest of the outfit.

Ballroom dance shoes are worn for aesthetic reason, even though they typically aren’t flashy. This genre is a social dance that can also be very competitive. It is considered socially unacceptable to participate in a competition without wearing shoes. Not only is footwear worn for social reason, but it also offers protection to the dancer’s feet.

Ballroom dance shoes all have relatively the same look. They don’t seem to consist of flashy colors, but rather somewhat neutral hues. They have a small heel to provide some height and support graceful forward movements. They generally have leather soles making it easier to spin and glide in a delicate fashion.
